strangevisitor7: I will call Her george (Ironman)
I mentioned that hubby scored some free tickets to the preview of Tropic Thunder which opens on August 15th.

We thought it was hilarious!!! Four thumbs up!
To put this in perspective - we think that Dogdeball is one of the funniest movies ever but we are not fans of most of Ben Stiller's other movies.

more under the cut - Just in case of spoilers )

Went to see Batman:The Dark Knight last night. It was good. Not great but good. The reports are true - Heath Ledger is about as perfect a Joker as one could possibly imagine.

IMHO - Ironman is still the best Superhero movie ever made - Not that it's a contest but if it was, Ironman wins.

Now that we’ve reached the halfway point in the summer movie season, I thought I’d share my reviews of the flicks I’ve seen so far. Thoughts about each movie are under the cut so as not to spoil anyone.

Ironman )

Wall-E )

Hancock )
Get Smart )

So there’s my first half round-up. In summary, Ironman, Get Smart and Kung Fu Panda are my top three so far.

I am looking forward to Hellboy and Batman. I am especially excited about the new Mummy flick as I have great affection for the first two.

I don't know if I've mentioned it before but my husband is a huge comic book collector. We have over 50 of the long boxes in our basement. Seriously, I could open a used comic book shop. How many are mine - well I brought 2 of those boxes into the marriage. So yeah, I'm a comic book fan too.

In case any of this could be considered spoilers )

The family got to see a sneak preview of the New Ironman Movie last night. Guess it pays to collect comic books and have an in for free tickets. It was a great way to celebrate Seth's 15th birthday!

No spoilers just a big huge positive recommendation.

The move was terrific and Robert Downey, Jr. was perfect, I mean perfect, as Ironman. They basically got everything right; from Tony's snarkiness to the way the suit looks and works.

We all loved it!!!

1. Pick 15 of your favourite movies
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess. (And no googling...that's cheating!)
4. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.

So they were all guessed but #9 - which happens to be one of my favortie lines from Ocean's 11. Well Done Guys!

So to the movies )

It is a good day today. I got my second issue of the Supernatural Magazine. Great pictures of everyone.

Big article with JDM about John Winchester and a poster of him in the middle - nice. Plus an article with Jared. Not much in the way of spoilers or new stuff but - lots of good pictures and it is great to see the show getting a little newsstand publicity.

In other news, my girl friend who has been hogging my first season of Supernatural for months finally returned it. Mainly, because I literally went into her house and took it back. And the kicker - she never got around to watching it. I am considering not being friends any more - just kidding but very disappointed that I could not create another convert.

Saw '27 Dresses' last night. Sweet but predictable - nothing special. I have decided that I'm really not a fan of Katherine Heigel because I didn't like Knocked Up and of course I don't watch GA for obvious reasons.

I am a huge Broadway musical fan.  So I was very excited about Sweeny Todd being made into a movie as it is one of my favorites.  We saw the movie on Christmas day and it was brilliant.

strangevisitor7: Sam and Dean (Winchesters)
Just an interesting bit of news. Wizard Magazine put out its choices if they cast the upcoming Teen Titans movie. They suggested Jared Padalecki for Nightwing. This is an awesome idea and I was so excited to see his picture in the magazine. Let's hope the people casting the movie are paying attention.

Happy to explain who Nightwing is for those who don't know, just ask. :)

As for the rest and a blurb for their most recent work if I know it.

Went to see Stardust. Now I already Love Niel Gaiman so I figured a movie based on his work would be fantastic. I loved this movie and want to encourage anyone who likes fantasy and romance to go see it. Also, by Niel Gaiman is the book American Gods which I praise at every opportunity.

During the summer hubby and go to a movie every week. Yes, we are suckers for the blockbusters.
So, I thought I'd throw my 2cents out there concerning some of the movies I've seen recently. From best to worst:

1)Live Free or Die Hard - Easily the best movie of the summer so far. It is better than Die Hard 2 or 3. It captures all the things you love about the Die Hard series. Bruce Willis hasn't lost a step.

2) Transformers - Never watched the show and I didn't want to go. But I enjoyed the ride and the SFX were beyond great. Defiantly, an above average action flick. In honor of Transformers, I give you a SPN/Transformers crossover Look What My Baby Can Do by [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]

3)Shrek 3 - If you saw the first two, this was more of the same. Nothing really new here except the Princess squad was pretty cool.

4) Spiderman 3 - Slow in places and overstuffed. A sad end to the trilogy IMHO.

5) Fantastic Four 2 - Well it was better than the first one. That's about the only positive.

6) Pirates 3 - Was this a mess or what. I couldn't even tell you what it was supposed to be about.

I am a huge movie addict. I have seen every academy award best picture winner. Of all the movies to win an award in the top categories (picture, director, actor, actress, sup actor, sup actress) I have seen all but 42 (out of ~450). I have seen over 75% of all the nominees in those categories. I am an addict, I told you.

I was so excited that "Sunrise" from 1927 was on the AFI 100 list because it might finally be released on DVD. It is on winners on my list, I have never seen. Yes, I have a list.

Anyone else out there as bad as me? It would be nice to know I am not alone.
