LOL - travelling is fine and I think we'll do that for Christmas, but after the past couple of years... it was nice to be home on a holiday and know what everyone was doing, but not feel the INSANE urge to eat three turkey dinners in one day.
My brother-in -law is an amazing cook & Thanksgiving is his favorite day. It is definately worth the drive. But it does make Monday mornings a bit rough :)
No travel planned for Christmas and I am glad for that. in fact we are hoping for very small and quiet this year but it never ends up that way ;P
LOL - I have eleven cousins, and my dad is one of nine (now one of eight, six of the remaining seven are married)... so I'm used to big and noisy more than quiet and calm.
VERY cool on the amazing cook part though! I'm the foodie of my house... and I can safely say that because I get excited walking through the cooking supply aisle (pots, pans, utensils, etc) in the grocery store.
