It's pretty canon that they're orphans, though on the other hand Highlander has never been good at exploring the details, expecting us to ignore the big gaiping holes! If you stick to the series, and not the movies, which a lot of tend to do since the movie sequels were crap and very contradictory, we don't know where Immortals come from.

As for Sam and Dean being related, just because we never saw related immortals, doens't mean it isn't possible. I was going to take that avenue myself for the HL/Holby fic I write sine now it turns out one of the characters I planned on being a pre immortal is a twin. So, pre-immortal twins!

It's a subject that has lots of theories and ways around show canon, and I think a lot of us have our own pet theories on where Immortals come from, and even if there's a way maybe for really old Immortals to have children, even though it is totalt canon that immies are sterile.

On a completely different topic - What is Holby? I hear youguys talk about it but i've never seen it.

It's the show Peter's currently doing in the UK called Holby City. It's set in a hospital and he plays a surgeon named Daniel Clifford. Since Methos was also a doctor (Peter plays lots od doctors, which is funny since he went to medical school before he became an actor) , we decided early on that Dan is one of Methos' identities and so Holby/HL fic commenced [g] I've written one complete fic and assorted drabbles so far, and I have a sequel that's one part posted so far.

Like Ith said, it is canon that they're foundlings but probably only to avoid having to explain how they are Immortal.

And seeing as how everyone ignores Highlander 2 and defines Immortals as human there is absolutely no reason why they can't know their parents. Just because it never happened doesn't mean it couldn't happen.

Besides which, the Winchesters have never been one for playing by the rules anyway. ;-)
I think as long as you're true to the universe you're creating and are mindful to stay in character (if that's you're intention) then this grey area of canon can be ignored.
