Time Cannot Erase

Ezra stood in front of the six graves. They hadn't died here but he'd moved them to this hillside overlooking a peaceful valley. They would have liked the view.

One hundred years ago, he'd agreed to help protect a Seminole village with six strangers. Images of the seven of them riding together remained fresh in his mind to this day. He'd thought it would last forever, but their time together had been too short when measured against the years of his Immortality.

He knelt to place a single forget-me-not on each of the graves.

As Ezra walked away, he wondered when it would stop hurting this much.

*sniff* This made me tear up! *plasters self to JD's grave* Poor Ez! *squishes Ez*

Short, but good short in it hits all the important bits of 'life after with immortals'.

Thanks. Drabbles are a tough balance - glad you thought I got it right. So sorry I made you sniffle - I try not to think about Ezra living without them, too much.

You made me all sniffly! Was good! And reminded me of that story I might write one day about Charlotte and an elderly Vin at Chris's grave. [grabs tissue]

Oh poor Ezra. I like the picture of the others peacefully asleep on the hillside. Great drabble, very evocative.

Thanks - Immortality seems cool until everyone you care about is gone. I'm so glad it worked for you.

...you owe me tissues...

This was so beautiful, Ezra still looking after them.

(so, any chance of Magnificent!Spawn in the future?)

Awww... poor Ezzie.

That was one of the things I liked about Methos. He has been married many times, and jumped at a relationship with Alexa even after he knew she was terminally ill. Yet, he jumped right in. Kinda' like the idea of the Buddha choosing to go through reincarnation, even though he knows human life has suffering in it.

And why can I hear my Methos-muse laughing off the bar stool at that comparison?

Here... *hands Methos-muse a high end ale* shut up and stop laughing.

Anyway,... nice little ficlet.

*hands over tissue* sorry i made you cry but happy you liked it.

Funny you should mention Magnificent!Spawn. I actually emailed Ith a plot bunny I had today about Ezra hiring an assistant/lackey/protoge in the present because the kid was a decedent of JD's.

Oh! Oh Ezra! *smishes* that poor man...see this is why all the seven should've been immortal - it hurts to much for one of them to be left all alone!

Shows how talented you are when you can put so much into a drabble.

Perfect. Made me tear up at the thought of Ezra living while the others died.

*hugs you* because I want to.

I've been waiting for this since you started writing an immortal serious. It's not something you can deny. The other six are going to die and Ezra has to live on without them .... awww. *hugs Ezra*

I'm just sort of glad it was a drabble and not a full length story that would have been heartbreaking.

I killed them all in Ghost Town and left Vin alive - i can't do that again. I can't even read that chapter any more it upsets me - I wrote it before I was so attached to the boys. Yep drabble was enough - glad you approve

True, but they were ghosts and if you didn't look to closely, you could almost pretend that they were still alive. Well, except for Vin ....

It's so hard to write/read death fics. Although I still have a strong urge to kill off Vin or one of the others in a story. Not Ezra though!
