Comment on this post. I will choose seven interests from your profile and you will explain what they mean and why you are interested in them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so that others can play along.

So, [personal profile] idontlikegravy, you asked about these interests of mine:

1. American Gods - A book by Neil Gaiman. One of the best things I’ve read in a long time. He posits the idea that beliefs in the old gods (Norse, Greek etc. ) were brought to America but became pale incarnations as belief in them waned. So the gods have very little power but still cause mischief. Also the idea that belief creates gods. So legend becomes, myth becomes god - this is the idea behind this rec Dust in the wind by lyra-wing a crossover between Supernatural and American Gods. It is excellent.

2. Anglophile - This does need explanations but as an American, I use this term to encompass the entire UK. If that is insulting, I apologize. So many of my favorite actors are Scottish or English, Gerry Butler, Sean Bean, David Tennant. Jack Davenport, Colin Firth, Sean Connery ( I could do this all day). In Literature, LOTR, Jane Austen & Harry Potter are among my favorites (Neil Gaiman & Alan Davis too). I Love the accents, especially Scottish. I love the TV shows - Dr.Who, Life on Mars, Coupling, MI-5. Eddie Izzard is my favorite comedian and of course Monty Python. I get SFX and Empire Magazines delivered from the UK. They blow all American Entertainment mags away. My Dream trip is to go to the UK see castles, Stonehenge, go to the highlands (of course). So, I am a bit obsessive. If I ever get to Wales we can go to the pub and then you can show me around Torchwood. *hee*

3. Faith/Dean - Before [profile] pen37 and [profile] clarksmuse converted me to Chlean, I thought Faith was the best match for Dean. I was wrong and should update my profile.

4. Gerard Butler - I saw Timeline - a crap movie by the way - and I could not take my eyes off him. I thought then (and still think) he is the most gorgeous man. With Long hair ( prefer it when guys have longer hair & yet not a Sammy girl) and Scottish accent in full force, I was a goner.

5. Gilmore girls - It is about a mother and daughter living in small town Connecticut. It is hysterical but also touching. Started renting the series after SPN aired simply because of Jared. who played the daughter’s boy friend for ~3 years. I have become obsessed with the idea that Dean Forrester (Jared’s character in GG) and Sam Winchester are twins who were separated at birth. I would pay money for someone to write that story just so at some point Sam Winchester can say “Great now I have two brothers named Dean. :)

6. Richard Sharpe - Sean Bean. Saw LOTR:FOTR and fell in love with Boromir (long hair does it every time) and then had to watch everything he’d ever done. The Sharpe movies are fantastic and I have also read the books. They are about an enlisted man who gets promoted to officer after he saves Wellington’s life. He fights in the Napoleonic wars as a rifleman and ultimately a Major in charge of a crew of Sharpshooters. Sean has long hair, the northern accent, the uniform, he shoots guns & acts all manly man. What’s not to love?

7. the spacebug - The vehicle tag on my 1974 Volkswagen Beetle is SPACBUG. So we call it the space bug. Appropriate, given my love of all things Scifi and Superantural

That was very illuminating... so; long hair, scottish accents, can't think why you like Highlander *grin*

It rocks that you own a 74 Beetle. I'd love a VW campervan from that era, but they are unfortunately extremely expensive over here. boo.

I don't really have anything against the English, after all I do live here, but it's expected for the Welsh to hate the English (kinda like Canadians and the US), especially when there is rugby involved.

I'll have to try and find American Gods, I'm a fan of Neil Gaiman but I never read enough of his stuff.
